Alex Huggett, Funeral Celebrant

I'm a funeral celebrant in Perth, Western Australia, with over 10 years experience. If you'd like me to help you through this difficult time, just ask your funeral arranger and I'll be in touch.

I come to your home or somewhere that suits you to discuss your wishes for the service and your loved one's life. If you prefer, I can write and/or present the eulogy or work with you to tell your loved one's story.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. While it's normal to meet at your home, meeting in-person doesn't work for everyone. The death of a loved one can be a chaotic time and I'm more than happy to meet via video call or at another location if you prefer.

Having a family member or friend present the eulogy or a tribute will make the service more personal but many families find the day emotionally overwhelming and I am more than happy to step in. (To be honest, I love telling people's stories!)

There are a few options for presenting the eulogy and we will discuss these when we meet.

It really depends! Dress codes have changed a great deal in recent years and funerals are typically a much more informal affair than they once were. Cultural considerations may come into it but the first consideration is what will honour your loved one's life! Black is no longer usually considered necessary. For some people, they would have preferred family and friends dress formally. For others, bright casual clothing are more appropriate. They may have a favourite colour or have been passionate followers of a sporting team. If in doubt, 'neat casual' is usually appropriate.

While, as celebrant, I will wear business attire by default, I'm more than happy to 'dress down' if this makes the family more comfortable or will be more respectful of your loved one.

My aim is to reflect the life of your loved one and the family's wishes and most of the services I conduct are non-religious.

However, I am an ordained Baptist minister and can perform Christian funerals.

(I have also worked with religious practitioners from other faiths to provide the secular component while they perform the religious requirements.)

My fee is included in the Funeral Director costs so we can just focus on creating a fitting service for your loved one.
